BB'S COFFEE & MUFFINS
Making Muffins & Making Money!
In just ten years, BB's Coffee and Muffins has become the UK and Ireland's leading shopping centre café chain, with 175 outlets. Capitalising on current consumer trends, BB's offers delicious freshly mixed and baked muffins, freshly prepared sandwiches and baguettes and 100% Arabica coffee made to order - all at value for money prices. "Now our reputation is so strong, we are regularly approached by landlords because our presence increases dwell time in their shopping centres and consequently the sales of their other tenants increase."

BB's is also the European licensor for New Zealand Natural products -100% natural premium ice cream, frozen yoghurt and sorbet, all made without artificial colours or flavourings. Many stores stock New Zealand Natural, also using it in smoothies and shakes, as well as selling it in the traditional format of ice cream cones and tubs. There is also an opportunity for stand-alone New Zealand Natural ice cream, juice and smoothie bar kiosks.
Shashi Patel was the first BB's Coffee & Muffins franchisee back in 1997 and he has recently opened his 10th store. He feels that BB's was definitely the right business decision for him. "BB's Coffee & Muffins has two great things going for it - the concept perfectly fits the English and Irish weather and the business is simple to operate," he said.
"I welcomed the change from the long hours of convenience retailing and although I was very hands on in my first café, I am now able to step back and concentrate on developing my stores and my teams."
Shashi is a great example of someone who threw his heart and soul into the business and has grown with the BB's brand.
Other examples are Martin Breen & Barbara McDonnell who last year became BB's first Irish franchisees and opened their first store in the St. Laurence Centre in Drogheda. Twelve months later they have acquired and are now operating their second store and plan to have their third open in North Dublin by the end of Summer. "They are great examples of franchisees who take advantage of being part of a brand and work hard to build their business" adds David O' Connor, General Manager of BB's.
