Streat's Ahead...

Cafe franchise, the streat, is a recipe for success.

Over the last 10 years the streat has become Ireland's fastest growing cafe. Born & Bred in Belfast, the company has expanded rapidly & now boasts more than 36 successful cafes throughout Ireland & Scotland. The streat's success is not only measured by the number of cafes they have in operation but also by the impressive list of awards and accreditations from industry leaders. HR and Training Director, Nikki McQuillan says, "It's no secret that the main building block of the streat's success has been its commitment to training, which is virtually unique in this sector." She goes on to say, "This passion for excellence has resulted in the streat being the only franchise ever to win the prestigious UK National Training Awards and the streat have won it twice.

Other Awards include Investors in People, CIPD Awards and the Irish Franchise Association Award for Best Emerging Franchise 2008. The streat is hoping to continue with this recognition at the Irish Franchise Association Awards in February 2010 entering for two prestigious awards.

The streat is already a well known brand in Northern Ireland, renowned for healthy, fresh food, its unique blend of fabulous coffee, friendly and welcoming service and stylish contemporary decor. This winning formula is now being replicated across the growing number of cafes in the Republic of Ireland. The streat cafe in Portlaoise has just celebrated its first successful year, showing continued growth and strength in difficult economic conditions. Franchisee Roseanna Slattery says simply, "I'm glad I chose the streat, my life has changed." When asked about her first year with the streat she goes on to say, "Since our first day of trading, the local community in Portlaoise has been unquestioningly supportive of us, welcoming us with open arms, and we offer a big thank you to all our customers." She continues by saying, "We have see loyal streat customers from across Ireland visiting us because they enjoy the high standards at the streat."

streat franchisee Derek Mullins opened his first café in Citywest Shopping Centre in February 2008, he continues his success with the recent opening of his second  café at The Square Shopping Centre, Tallaght. The 124sq.m unit has under gone a dramatic refit and now offers customers at The Square a fresh, exciting place to meet, eat and rest whilst enjoying their shopping experience.  Sales at the café have greatly exceeded projections, breaking all early day opening records held by streat cafes to date.

Derek has been joined in the business by his wife Aisling and between them they successfully alternate their time between their café at Citywest and Tallaght. Derek says, "I am delighted to have Aisling by my side in our business. She brings with her a great deal of support and a wealth of experience, which is a great help during this difficult economic climate. The support the streat has given me during this time has also been second to none, they are continually looking to better the already highly recognizable brand, improving  everything they do from the food and service we provide to the décor in our cafes." He goes on to say, "The streat have helped us so much to build our business, helping us think outside the box, or the café walls so to speak, by introducing deliveries, outside catering and promotions, which has really increased the profitability of our business."

Success for the streat continues with another recent café opening on North Wall Quay, Dublin and the company is currently in the process of securing properties in central and greater Dublin for their newly committed franchisees.

And it doesn't stop there, the franchise has moved across the water to Scotland, with the flagship cafe at Silverburn in Glasgow celebrating its first birthday this December and 2 new branches have opened during the summer in Queen Street, Glasgow city centre and Graham Street in Airdrie. More than 25 cafes are planned for Scotland in the next 3 years and already plans for cafe openings in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, East Kilbride and Glasgow are well underway.

Opportunities exist throughout Ireland for energetic and passionate people willing to grasp an exciting chance to run their own business. For further information about the streat click here
